Who you are ringing
AJ Mathieson Electrical is a one-man business. Andy answers the phone, comes out to quote, does the work, and puts his name on the certificate at the end of it.
He is an NICEIC registered domestic installer, Part P compliant and qualified to the current wiring regulations. The work is domestic and small commercial — consumer unit changes, rewires, additional lighting and power points, recessed downlights, external lighting and sockets.
What he says about how he works is short: deliver the job to the highest standard he can, be approachable and friendly about it, and offer design and installation options that suit what you actually need rather than what is easiest to fit.
The independent reviews say much the same thing back. Across 13 verified reviews on Which? Trusted Traders, the words that come up again and again are professional, reliable, flexible and — more than anything else — that he clears up after himself.

A big, complicated job including a partial rewire carried out while the household was still living there. The customer described the work as quick and competent, praised how little mess and disruption there was, and noted that Andy cleared up thoroughly at the end of each day.

Faulty sockets and a heat detector replaced and ceiling lights repositioned. The customer's requirements changed several times along the way; the quote was revised each time and different solutions were offered rather than a single take-it-or-leave-it option.

A quick quote at a price the customer thought reasonable, the certificate provided, and the last few items finished off promptly after payment. Summed up as genuine and trustworthy, and someone they would use again.

New owners of a house who did not understand the existing electrics needed the old fuse box replaced and some lights repaired. They found the advice helpful and constructive, the quotation accurate, and the appointment punctual.

Seven integrated downlights, two new pendants with wall switches and a repositioned television. The customer picked out the detailed quote, the range of options offered, and being asked to confirm details — such as how far the pendants should hang — as the work went on.

Inside and outside lighting fitted to a summerhouse. The customer described the service as very professional, said everything was completed within the timescale and to their requirements, and had no hesitation in recommending it.

Local
Weldon sits on the eastern edge of Corby, which puts most of the town within ten minutes and the Rockingham Forest and Welland valley villages not much further.
That matters more than it sounds. A local electrician can look at a job on the way past, come back to finish something off without it becoming a half-day of travelling, and knows which network operator to ring when a fault turns out to be on the supply rather than inside the house.
AJ Mathieson Electrical also sponsors a local junior football team — the shirts have the logo on them, which is about as local as advertising gets.

Ring Andy directly. He would rather spend five minutes on the phone working out what you actually need than quote for the wrong thing.
